At the end of 2006, Jane and Gideon Lloyd moved into what was then known as The Novers. Set in nearly 6 acres on the South side of Clee Hill this unique and very unusual property enjoyed stunning views South to the Brecon Beacons, West to Ludlow and East to the Malvern Hills.
Also situated within the land were lime kilns which have subsequently been listed as a National Heritage Site.
This charming little enclave had become somewhat run down with much of the woodland growing wildly out of control.
In late 2007 building work started on a substantial three storey extension set against the hillside adjoining the existing building. When finished there will be ensuite bedrooms, a spacious lounge and dining area with a covered veranda all exclusively for guests' use.
At the same time a programme of clearance and restoration of the woodlands commenced. The once overgrown drive was opened up providing yet more stunning views.
A small vineyard was planted on the lower 1 acre pasture. Very much a hobby, nothing is expected for at least five years!
Two ponds a small one beside the vineyard and a more substantial version below the house add to the ecology. Within the grounds there are a number of short walks and garden benches to take in the atmosphere.
Our aim is to provide facilities that can genuinely be regarded as five star coupled with a personal touch that meets the expectations of a discerning clientele.
Throughout the re-building programme we have been at pains to make sure quality and style are our bywords. We have brought local builders and craftsmen together with modern building techniques and highly efficient environmentally friendly materials to ensure comfort with an efficient carbon footprint.
The construction method of the new addition is Structural Insulated Panels which are manufactured in the UK. The walls are clad in painted timber. All slate for the roof, granite and limestone for the floors was specially imported from China. Aluminium wood windows from Denmark, Bathrooms from Italy, Bedroom furniture from Sweden all add up to what we hope will be a memorable time at The Country Villa.
Jane has used her skills as an Interior Designer to ensure that the many elements that go to create a relaxed and warm feeling are seen throughout the Guest areas.
