In
2007 we cleared just under 1 acre of ground beside the entrance to The Country
Villa. We planted 650 vines. Over the intervening two years most have established
themselves (we've only lost 18 vines).
Each Summer all the vines have been quite severely pruned so no flowering has taken place - what we're trying to do is establish really strong roots - despite the best efforts of the moles to de-stabilise them.
Next year we will stake the vines and start to train them onto the wires. We think maybe 2012 we should get our first meaningful crop - patient business this vine growing!
